About The Position

Anduril is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join its Battlespace Awareness team in Waltham, Massachusetts. The team develops tactical sensing and decision-making software for command and control products, designed to operate across combinations of compute hardware, sensors, effectors, and software services. The systems must be robust, effective, and safe across different configurations, missions, and customer experiences. The role supports the design, development, and validation of capabilities such as tracking, sensor and effector management, battlespace optimization, and threat forecasting. It connects system design, requirements management, modeling and simulation, and verification and validation. The engineer will integrate emerging capabilities into products and system configurations, lead requirements decomposition across teams, and define success in ambiguous contexts. The engineer will develop test plans, acceptance criteria, analysis tools, and modeling and simulation frameworks to assess performance across scenarios using simulations and field data. The role also involves tracing system performance as it evolves, evaluating whether customer requirements are met, scoping system laydown, and owning systems end-to-end to resolve cross-disciplinary issues and achieve the intended outcome.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of hardware and software systems engineering experience.
  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated use of model-based systems engineering in a program lifecycle.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB and AFSIM.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python for data parsing, modeling and simulation, data analysis, and visualization.
  • Skills in statistics, AI/ML, requirements, testing, and MBSE.
  • Demonstrated proficiency applying engineering standards to engineering processes or requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical findings to developers, system leads, and customers.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problems.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with processes and constraints for real-time and safety-critical software.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++ or Rust; full-time coding is not required, but understanding is valuable.
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Prior involvement in field exercises, test events, or experimentation campaigns.
  • Comfort obtaining data from software platforms using command-line tools.
  • Previous experience in a defense, aerospace, or naval environment.
  • Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, radar, optics, computer vision, wireless communication, software-defined radios, or networking.
  • Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB for data parsing and data visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and validation of algorithmic capabilities, including tracking, sensor and effector management, battlespace optimization, and threat forecasting.
  • Integrate emerging capabilities into new products and system configurations.
  • Lead requirements decomposition across cross-functional teams and define success amid ambiguity.
  • Develop test plans, acceptance criteria, and analysis tools to evaluate system performance using simulation and collected field data.
  • Use data-driven analysis to verify customer requirements and create artifacts that trace system performance as it evolves.
  • Develop and implement modeling and simulation frameworks to validate algorithmic performance, test capabilities under varied scenarios, and provide data-driven insights for improvement.
  • Scope ideal system laydown, scrutinize system performance, and ensure deployed systems meet customer requirements.
  • Own systems end-to-end, identifying and resolving problems across system boundaries to achieve desired outcomes.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive, competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
