About The Position

Reporting to the System Supervisor 2 of Server/storage Support, the Systems Administrator works independently and is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of the server infrastructure. Incumbent is expected to learn new technologies that impact medical center systems as they emerge and quickly resolve integration problems. Will support systems for two data centers running over 200 Windows and Unix-based servers and 3000 client machines. Will be responsible for independently conducting system analysis and development to keep up with new technologies. Will develop and produce documentation, including server specifications, disaster recovery, and application recovery manuals in text and in web-based formats. Will work with other Systems Administrators on a daily basis to support all clinical and non-clinical systems for the UCI Health System.

Requirements

  • TCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, UDP, TCP, DNS, Routing & Firewalls: Advanced experience writing and editing the most complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration.
  • Scripting, Automation & Configuration Management using tools such as Python, PowerShell, Ansible or Puppet (Advanced)
  • Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure platforms, VMware clustering and networking.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Linux systems management experience with a primary focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ubuntu, as well as other distributions as required.
  • IS: Strong knowledge of DNS, DHCP and WINS
  • IS: Minimum 5 years of directly related experience to Enterprise Computing as a mid to senior level staff
  • IS: Expert working knowledge of the Windows server operating system (Windows 2003 through Server 2012)
  • IS: Experience with enterprise file sharing services such as DFS, which includes design, management and automation of tasks
  • IS: Demonstrated experience with reporting services for storage capacity, user data and growth
  • IS: Basic understanding of ITIL methodology
  • IS: Ability to generate roadmaps to include SDLC
  • Fiber Channel (FC) including FC Zoning, WWNs, and storage fabric: Layer 2 networking & Layer 3 networking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Cisco UCS networking.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing most complex server-based software.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision on projects including configurations, installation and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System, School of Medicine, UCI Research Administration and other UC System campuses
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience with scripting using scripting with Python, Bash, Powershell, VMware PowerCLI & Powershell, Ansible, Puppet
  • Previous work experience supporting Linux, VMware, Cisco UCS, Nutanix
  • Knowledge of medical and academic industry structures
  • Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • IS: Working knowledge of the UNIX OS, preferably with UNIX server administration
  • IS: Experience with Allscripts and/or EPIC Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Experience managing Storage Area Networks (e.g. EMC, HP, IBM)
  • Experience managing Distributed File Services (DFS), VMware services, Active Directory, CommVault Simpana backups, Orion monitoring, Exchange 2010, Lync 2013, DNS, DHCP and basic SQL/Oracle administration
