About The Position

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) primarily located at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, seeks a highly skilled and compassionate physician leader with expertise in Hematology and Oncology. This position offers a System Chair leadership role in a growing and dynamic program, including divisions in Medical Oncology and Hematology and Cell Therapy, dedicated to clinical and translational research as well as exceptional patient care. The Chair will work directly with the Cancer Center Director, the Service Line Vice President and other leaders to develop and implement strategy and processes for patient care. The Chair shall also maintain all current and future standards of care, both in-patient and out-patient, as well as accreditations needed to ensure service for the region. The Chair will assume responsibilities for research and development within the division and connect these activities to the larger goals of AHN. The successful candidate will be considered for the role of AHN System Chair, Department of Medical Oncology. The Department has divisions in Medical Oncology and Heme and Cell Therapy. In partnership with the Department Vice President, the chair will oversee greater than 40 physicians and greater than 60 APP’s within the department. The department has a hematology and oncology fellowship training program with 4 fellows per year, for a total of 12 fellows.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
  • Board-certified in oncology and/or hematology
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved Oncology/Hematology Fellowship
  • Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment
  • 7+ years of experience in oncology/hematology
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong commitment to patient care and education

  • Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Contribute to research activity within the department, including investigator-initiated trials, cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials, laboratory investigation, and publication of research findings
