About The Position

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a certified Epic Beaker System Analyst with expertise in Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP), strong working knowledge of laboratory information systems, and an understanding of clinical workflows. The analyst leads the design, build, testing, upgrades, and optimization of Epic Beaker applications, supporting compliance, data integrity, reliable system performance, complex laboratory workflows, reporting, downtime processes, and system integrations. The role uses certified expertise in Beaker, Data Innovations, and related Epic tools and partners with vendors and clinical stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions aligned with operational and regulatory requirements. The analyst manages or leads application projects and serves as a subject matter resource for assigned modules. The position analyzes end-user requirements, resolves complex application issues, supports users and training, and defines or refines business processes and reporting needs. It also involves workflow analysis, system testing, upgrades and optimization, application maintenance, and participation in downtime-process testing.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Beaker Clinical Pathology (CP) certification required.
Data Innovations certification or prior work experience required.
Three or more years of Beaker build experience.
Critical-thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Master’s degree.
Beaker Anatomic Pathology (AP) certification.
At least one year of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

Lead design, build, and testing for small to medium application projects, including Epic upgrades, adoption of new functionality, and significant enhancements to integrated workflows.
Provide Epic product expertise for the design, build, and testing of assigned modules, including Beaker.
Analyze complex application work, including system capabilities, program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, reporting methods and structure, and data controls.
Maintain assigned applications in partnership with technical experts, vendors, and technology teams; test and troubleshoot existing and proposed systems to resolve and anticipate issues.
Contribute to application development and deployment planning, identify improvement opportunities, and independently resolve end-user application inquiries and problems, consulting vendors when needed.
Lead data management and process-improvement activities for assigned applications and contribute to system design and upgrades.
Provide vendors with guidance on patches and upgrades to maintain reliable, up-to-date business-system functionality.
Analyze end-user requirements and resolve complex requests and issues; participate in user support and training, define and refine business processes, and support reporting needs.
Manage application projects or serve as project lead for a module or system requiring substantial subject matter expertise or certification.
Maintain advanced knowledge of operational workflows supported by business or clinical applications.
Take ownership of service issues, ensure accurate communications and deliverables, meet committed timelines, support service recovery, and communicate consistently with customers.
Independently perform workflow analysis and design with input and guidance from operational leadership.
Participate in system testing by executing scripts and in testing downtime processes.
Perform upgrade and optimization activities with vendor assistance.
Participate in departmental and customer meetings, present meeting content, and support the team as a resource.
Maintain current application knowledge and provide input into user-training content.
