About The Position

A study of the social production of femininity and masculinity. Various explanations of sexual difference, from biological to sex-role theory, will be examined critically. Recent contributions to the sociology of gender, including proposals for altering current gender relationships, will be considered.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Sociology or a related discipline.
  • Professional training and/or experience relevant to the substantive content of the course.
  • University teaching experience (course directorship; tutorial leadership not considered).
  • Evidence of explicit sociological orientation.
  • Internal member of the CTF bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

  • Teach SY334A, Sociology of Gender course.
  • Conduct lectures.
  • Assess students based on the Candidate Application Form (CAF), Curriculum Vitae, and any specifically referenced pages in supplemental documents.
  • Adhere to the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement.
