About The Position

Drawing on critical race theory and studies of ethnicity, this course examines social diversity in Canada with an emphasis on race and ethnic relations. Topics include representations of racial difference, institutional racism, colonialism, and policies of immigration and multiculturalism.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Sociology or a related discipline.
  • Professional training and/or experience relevant to the substantive content of the course.
  • University teaching experience (course directorship; tutorial leadership not considered).
  • Evidence of explicit sociological orientation.
  • Internal member of the CTF bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

  • Teach SY332VA, Sociology of Race & Ethnicity course.
  • Utilize virtual asynchronous delivery mode.
  • Engage with students on topics including representations of racial difference, institutional racism, colonialism, and policies of immigration and multiculturalism.
