About The Position

An analysis of the social construction of deviance, social control and the use of social rules. Particular constructions of deviance to be addressed may include mental illness, juvenile delinquency, interpersonal violence and substance abuse.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • Sociology or related discipline
  • Professional training and/or experience relevant to the substantive content of the course.
  • University teaching experience (course directorship; tutorial leadership not considered).
  • Evidence of explicit sociological orientation.
  • Internal members of the CTF bargaining unit as defined by Article 13.7.2.17.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures for SY218B, Constructions of Deviance.
  • Analyze the social construction of deviance, social control, and the use of social rules.
  • Address specific constructions of deviance such as mental illness, juvenile delinquency, interpersonal violence, and substance abuse.
