About The Position

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is seeking a Swim Instructor/Lifeguard to support and enhance the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps community. The role performs water rescues, provides emergency first aid, and contacts medical assistance when needed. It teaches swimming skills and water safety to people of all ages and includes responsibility for pool-area cleanliness and routine pool maintenance. Work may involve moderate discomfort, high temperatures, and adverse weather conditions. The position requires lifting and carrying objects up to 45 pounds independently and heavier objects with assistance. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Possess current nationally recognized Lifeguard Training certification.
Possess current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification or equivalent.
Possess current Standard First Aid certification or equivalent.
Possess current Water Safety Instructor certification or equivalent in accordance with Marine Corps Order 1700.39, Chapter 10.
Pass an initial and recurrent physical ability test.
Obtain and maintain a Tier 1 (T1) childcare background check.
Be at least 16 years old.
Lift and carry objects up to 45 pounds independently and objects over 45 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience as a pool lifeguard and swim instructor is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform rescue work, promptly render emergency first aid, and call for medical assistance as necessary.
Teach swimming skills and water safety to all age groups.
Maintain the cleanliness of the pool building and grounds.
Vacuum and skim pools and perform routine pool maintenance.
Operate water pumps and add chemical additives to maintain specified pool-water standards when certification permits.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
