About The Position

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is hiring a Recreation Assistant for its fitness centers. The role supports recreational programs and facility operations, helping provide a welcoming and well-maintained environment for participants and guests. The assistant carries out assigned phases of activities, plans and coordinates activity details, maintains related supplies, and helps publicize activities to encourage participation. The position also involves opening and closing the facility, maintaining and cleaning facilities, grounds, and equipment, and greeting and checking in guests. The role requires lifting and carrying objects up to 45 pounds independently and heavier objects with assistance. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

At least two years of experience in customer service, preferably in a related recreational activity.
Ability to demonstrate activities and use related facility equipment.
Ability to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures.
Ability to acquire CPR and First Aid certification within six months of employment.
May be required to obtain and maintain National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check background checks for positions involving work with children under 18.

Responsibilities

Open and close the facility.
Maintain and clean the facility, grounds, and equipment.
Greet guests and ensure they are properly checked in.
Carry out assigned phases of designated activities, taking into account participants’ interests and needs.
Help plan and coordinate recreational activities.
Maintain supplies related to activities.
Assist with planning, scheduling, and publicizing activities to attract and motivate participants.
Lift and carry objects up to 45 pounds independently and objects over 45 pounds with assistance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
