About The Position

The Lifeguard reports to the Aquatics Director and provides lifeguard coverage for the pools at the JCC of Dallas according to American Red Cross standards. This part-time, nonexempt position works a maximum of 29 hours per week, and weekend hours are required. The position does not offer benefits. The employer is an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous lifeguarding experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the pool area daily, following the policies and procedures in the JCC Aquatics Staff Manual and American Red Cross standards to maintain a safe and healthy pool and program.
• Model professional lifeguard standards for patrons, members, and other lifeguards; enforce pool rules; maintain a positive attitude; and recognize and respond effectively to emergencies.
• Maintain order in indoor and outdoor pool areas at all times.
• Record chlorine and pH levels, water temperature, and usage statistics in chemical logs, and report problems to the Aquatics Director.
• Keep management informed of pool maintenance needs, including cleaning, chemical adjustments, and repairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the pool and pool area.
• Provide customer service in accordance with the JCC Customer Service Policy.
• Wear a uniform and remain at the workstation so as to be identifiable as a JCC Lifeguard.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.
