About The Position

The Lifeguard provides coverage of the pools at the JCC of Dallas according to American Red Cross lifeguarding standards. This part-time, nonexempt position reports to the Aquatics Director and works a maximum of 29 hours per week, including required weekend hours. The position does not offer benefits.

Requirements

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous lifeguarding experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the pool area daily, following the JCC Aquatics Staff Manual and American Red Cross policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy pool and program.
• Model professional lifeguard standards for patrons, members, and other lifeguards; enforce pool rules; maintain a positive attitude; and recognize and respond effectively to emergencies.
• Maintain order in indoor and outdoor pool areas at all times.
• Maintain chemical logs by recording chlorine and pH levels, water temperature, and usage statistics, and report problems to the Aquatics Director.
• Keep management informed of pool maintenance needs, including cleaning, chemical adjustments, and repairs.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the pool and pool area.
• Provide customer service according to the JCC Customer Service Policy.
• Wear a uniform and remain at the workstation to be identifiable as a JCC Lifeguard.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.
