About The Position

The Sushi Clerk works in Hy-Vee's Hy-Chi department, helping fill customer orders, prepare fresh product, and keep the department operating smoothly. The role emphasizes food safety, product freshness, customer service, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. The clerk receives direction and support from store and department leadership, including the Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, and Service Managers.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Food Safety Certification required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly customer service, greet customers, learn their names, and help make each visit positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and by phone; help customers locate or reach products and carry heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Receive and put away products, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order products and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
