About The Position

The Sushi Clerk works in Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi department, helping fill customer orders, prepare fresh products, and keep the department running smoothly. The role emphasizes food safety, product freshness, customer service, and maintaining a clean, organized work area in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Food Safety Certification required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Where applicable, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable, ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of similar or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful, friendly service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist customers with locating or reaching products and carrying heavy purchases.
Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products, retrieving items from coolers or freezers as needed.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Receive and put away products, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list.
Order products and supplies as necessary.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Comply with the company dress code, hygiene standards, and other policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
