About The Position

As a Sushi Clerk in Hy-Vee's Hy-Chi department, you help fill customer orders, prepare fresh products, and keep the department running smoothly. The role emphasizes food safety, product freshness, and attentive customer service in a fast-paced environment. Duties include serving customers at the counter and by phone, monitoring inventory and product quality, preparing and replenishing products, maintaining sanitation, and coordinating with teammates. The position also requires following company policies and may include assisting in other store areas or special projects. Training is provided to support a safe work environment. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Food Safety Certification.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
• Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.

• Six months or more of similar or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly customer service, greet customers, and help create a positive shopping experience.
• Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone; help customers find or reach products and carry heavy purchases.
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish products, retrieving items from the cooler or freezer as needed.
• Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Receive and put away products, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptly.
• Anticipate product needs and follow or develop production lists.
• Order products and supplies as necessary.
• Work with teammates to support a smooth customer experience.
• Follow Hy-Vee dress-code, hygiene, and company-policy requirements.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
