About The Position

Join Ayres Associates’ Land Survey Group, based in its Madison, Wisconsin office, providing surveying services to clients across a variety of industries. This role is suited to a Survey Technician with relevant experience who enjoys a mix of field and office responsibilities and values teamwork, professionalism, and continued growth. The position involves field and office survey and mapping tasks, supporting crew chiefs, technicians, project managers, and professional land surveyors. Overtime and occasional out-of-town and overnight travel are anticipated.

Requirements

At least 1 year of relevant experience in surveying services, including design surveys; geospatial control and lidar QA/QC; construction layout; land surveys such as ALTA and right-of-way plats; and WisDOT surveying procedures.
Technically sound in the use of survey equipment and software.
Physically able to walk over uneven terrain and lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

Self-starter able to work independently and adapt to a team setting.
Two-year degree in land surveying, civil engineering technology, a related field, or higher.
Experience with Trimble survey equipment and software.
Experience with Civil 3D/AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Ability to keep thorough notes and perform necessary survey calculations.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project managers.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of field and office survey and mapping tasks.
Use survey field equipment and CADD platforms, including GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, MicroStation, and Civil 3D.
Assist and communicate with crew chiefs, technicians, and project managers in support of their duties.
Support professional land surveyors in preparing land surveying documents.
Adhere to OSHA and required safety practices.
