About The Position

Thalhimer is seeking a full-time Service Technician to maintain the Lexington Commons apartment community in Newport News, Virginia. The role supports the quality and upkeep of apartment homes and shared property spaces, helping provide residents with a well-maintained living environment. The work includes completing apartment work orders and turnovers; repairing and performing preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances; and maintaining common areas, buildings, and pool areas. The technician provides responsive, professional service to residents and staff, works with the maintenance team, and responds to emergency requests as needed. The role has a regular work week, with on-call hours as needed, and may require travel between properties. Compensation includes competitive pay and a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

At least 2 years of maintenance experience in a residential community or similar field.
CFC and HVAC certifications.
Strong background in plumbing, electrical systems, and general apartment maintenance.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between properties if needed.
Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, dependability, initiative, and interest in hands-on work.

Responsibilities

Complete apartment work orders and turnovers promptly.
Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances.
Assist with upkeep of common areas and property buildings, including pool maintenance.
Provide exceptional customer service in interactions with residents and staff.
Coordinate with the team to complete maintenance tasks efficiently and professionally.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
Manage daily checklists and occasional tasks, and troubleshoot unexpected issues.
