About The Position

The Survey Party Chief leads a survey crew in the field, managing survey work and using surveying equipment and technology to collect accurate measurements across a range of terrain and job-site conditions. Surveyors provide measurements that architects and engineers use to design buildings and develop sites safely and accurately. The role requires the physical ability to work outdoors daily in all terrain and weather conditions, lead a team, and solve field problems under adverse conditions using mathematical and analytical procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Previous surveying experience is required, including boundary, topographic, bathymetric, and ALTA surveys and construction stakeouts.
Physically able to work outdoors on job sites daily in all terrain and weather conditions.
Ability to lead a team and manage the performance of various types of surveys.
Ability to solve field problems under adverse conditions using mathematical and analytical procedures.
Attention to detail.
Ability to respond to client needs in a timely manner.
Ability to communicate ideas clearly, listen actively, and ask appropriate questions.
Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

Experience using theodolites, 3D scanners, and Topcon field controllers.

Responsibilities

Supervise the field crew in obtaining measurements, sketches, and data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
Communicate progress with project managers and survey supervisors.
Guide equipment setup and operation.
Lay out stakes for map-making.
Maintain crew safety and ensure the use of safety equipment.
