About The Position

As the Surplus Inventory Control Specialist 2, you work under the general direction of the Surplus Supervisor to receive WSU surplus property and determine its resale or recycling viability. You drive box trucks around the Pullman campus to pick up surplus items, evaluate those items for fair market value, and list them for sale through online auctions. You notify priority and public entities about available items, set up and conduct weekly public sales and live auctions, and use computers and related software to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience receiving and evaluating property with a large‑scale government or commercial warehouse; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Experience providing customer service.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pricing of used supplies and equipment.
  • Experience with the setup of live and online auctions.
  • Experience with sales of used equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain a forklift operations certification within six (6) months of hire.
