About The Position

As the Surplus Inventory Control Specialist 2, you will work under the general direction of the Surplus Supervisor. Your primary responsibilities include receiving WSU surplus property and determining its viability for resale or recycling. This involves driving box trucks around the Pullman campus to collect items, evaluating them for fair market value, and listing them for sale through online auctions. You will also be responsible for notifying priority and public entities about available items, setting up and conducting weekly public sales and live auctions, and utilizing computers and related software to complete your tasks. Facilities Services, where this position is located, focuses on the stewardship, maintenance, and operations of campus buildings, grounds, and utilities on the Pullman campus, aiming to be a service provider and employer of choice. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience receiving and evaluating property with a large‑scale government or commercial warehouse; OR equivalent education/experience
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Experience providing customer service
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain a forklift operations certification within six (6) months of hire
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access

Responsibilities

  • Receive WSU surplus property and determine its resale or recycling viability
