Surgical Technologist - CST - Weekend Alternative
About The Position
The Surgical Technologist works in the Operating Room at Chelsea Hospital, where more than 5,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries are performed annually across specialties including gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, otorhinolaryngology, podiatry, plastic surgery, and spine surgery. The role uses the principles and practices of surgical asepsis to prepare surgical instruments and supplies, maintain a sterile field, and pass instruments to surgeons. The technologist anticipates the surgeon’s needs by demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures and human anatomy and physiology. This position is available on a day shift and may be full-time or part-time, with 72 or 48 hours per pay period, respectively. Weekend Alternative scheduling requires a commitment to work at least 48 of 52 weekends each year. There are no on-call requirements. Candidates receive pay for an additional four hours per pay period as a benefit of participating in the program.
Requirements
- Graduate from a certified surgical technologist program.
- Obtain Surgical Technologist Certification within six months of employment.
- Commit to work at least 48 of 52 weekends each year.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical instruments and supplies using the principles and practices of surgical asepsis.
- Maintain a sterile field.
- Pass instruments to surgeons within the sterile field.
- Anticipate the surgeon’s needs by applying knowledge of surgical procedures and human anatomy and physiology.
