Surgical Technologist - Urology - Mid Shift

This role involves providing safe and efficient care to surgical patients, primarily in the scrub role, under the supervision of a registered nurse and in collaboration with the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for preparing and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies, utilizing knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques, and adapting to unpredictable situations in the perioperative setting. They also use knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and technology as a member of the surgical team.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.
- Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter.
- Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
- Current BLS certification required upon hire.
- Certification through NBSTSA required within one year of hire date.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of surgical tech experience is preferred.
- Surgical Technologists hired at Mayo Clinic Arizona prior to 11/20/2024 are not required to have a Surgical Technology certification through NBSTSA.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon.
- Functions primarily in the scrub role.
- Responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
- Possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique.
- Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting.
- Utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team.
