About The Position
Inova Fairfax Hospital is hiring a full-time Surgical Technologist 3 for its operating room on the day shift. The role requires experience as a surgical technologist and includes supporting procedures in a range of specialties. Sign-on bonus and relocation are available. The Surgical Technologist 3 helps maintain a safe, effective operating room environment, anticipates procedural needs and unexpected events, and supports the daily operating room schedule. The role also includes professional development, participation in departmental goals and quality improvement, and leadership responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of surgical technologist experience.
- Registered Surgical Technologist in the state of Virginia.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery–Certified (TS-C) through NCCT.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon start.
Nice To Haves
- Surgical Technologist experience in orthopedics, trauma, neurology, robotics, vascular, or thoracic surgery.
Responsibilities
- Recognize safety hazards and initiate appropriate preventative and corrective actions.
- Anticipate the need for unscheduled procedures or unexpected events during surgical procedures.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge in stressful and emergency situations.
- Support the daily operating room schedule by readily accepting assignments and reassignments.
- Demonstrate awareness of and commitment to professional and leadership responsibilities.
- Accept responsibility for judgments and actions.
- Support and participate in departmental goals, educational programs, and quality improvement processes.
- Document at least 40 hours of self-development activities, including a minimum of 12 formal contact hours.
