About The Position
This is a full-time position for a Surgical Tech in the Ortho Sports Surgery department at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham. The role involves facilitating the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures, preparing the operating suite, handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon, assisting with patient preparation and positioning, maintaining instrument organization, and monitoring instrument counts. The position also involves assisting surgeons with hemostasis during surgery.
Requirements
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
- Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities
- Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
- Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
