About The Position
The Surgical Tech position at UAB St. Vincent's 119 Clinic is responsible for facilitating the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating suite with necessary instruments and supplies, assisting surgeons during procedures by handing instruments and supplies, and aiding in patient preparation, transport, positioning, and draping. The Surgical Tech also plays a crucial role in maintaining instrument organization and tracking counts throughout surgeries, as well as assisting surgeons with hemostasis.
Requirements
- High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
- Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
- Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
