About The Position

The Surgical Tech works in the Labor and Delivery department at Via Christi St. Joseph in Wichita, Kansas. The role prepares the operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies, assists with patient preparation and positioning, and supports the surgeon throughout procedures by supplying instruments and assisting with hemostasis. The position is full-time with a day schedule.

Requirements

• Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Meet one of the following education and experience combinations: high school diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience; an associate's or technical degree; or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Keep instruments organized and monitor and track instrument counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons with provision of hemostasis during surgery.
