About The Position

As an OB Surgical Tech in the Bethesda North Labor and Delivery Unit, you will perform essential technical skills and provide direct assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. You will help ensure safe, efficient surgical procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting the clinical team throughout labor and delivery cases. You may also perform similar duties in other hospital areas as assigned, contributing to high-quality patient care wherever needed. Your work supports both the clinical team and families experiencing childbirth, helping create a safe and positive environment during surgical and obstetric procedures.

Requirements

High school degree or GED.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
OB Surgical Tech experience required.
Scrub Tech experience required.

Nice To Haves

Ability to complete a PCA class and unit-specific OB OR classes.
Labor and Delivery experience.

Responsibilities

Perform technical skills and directly assist surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room.
Prepare instruments, maintain sterile technique, and support the clinical team during labor and delivery cases.
Perform similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.
Demonstrate competent job performance and knowledge of the unit, including its policies and unit and organizational goals.
Pursue educational opportunities related to the field through internal and external training.
Communicate professionally with team members and customers regarding patient care situations.
Work with team members to ensure the needs of the unit, patients, and customers are met.
