About The Position
The Surgical Scheduler enhances the patient and customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient and outpatient procedures and surgeries. The role supports delivery of the Jefferson Experience by emphasizing prompt and courteous treatment of all patients. The position is based at Albert Einstein Medical Center, 5501 Old York Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is a regular, full-time employee role with a day shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to provide and support a positive Jefferson Experience for all patients and visitors.
- Ability to process and interpret data.
- Ability to multitask while managing a time-sensitive workload.
Responsibilities
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
- Collect and review patient insurance information, including obtaining prior authorizations for inpatient and outpatient procedures and referral information, and ensure all necessary approvals are in place before scheduled surgical procedures.
- Complete pre-procedure phone calls and confirm appointment times with patients by telephone.
- Provide patients with necessary pre-operative instructions.
- Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
