About The Position

Under general supervision, schedules all division surgeries and incidental testing and authorizes all surgical cases for the department. Ensures that all primary care referrals are handled according to practice and payer guidelines. Ensures that referral and pre-authorization activities are undertaken in order to provide maximum patient and provider satisfaction and maximum reimbursement; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or (GED) general education degree.
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • PC proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with posting and /or authorizing is preferred.
  • Current knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and preauthorization is preferred
  • Knowledge of IDX or similar computerized billing system is preferred
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding is preferred
  • General understanding of back-office operations is preferred
  • Medical terminology preferred
