Surgical Aide - 32 Hours Weekly - Days & Evenings
About The Position
Essentia Health is hiring a Surgical Aide to serve in the operating room at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. This position works 32 hours per week, primarily on day shifts scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with evening shifts from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. as part of a day/evening rotation. On-call coverage is required one week out of every four. The schedule also includes one weekend every four weeks and a holiday rotation. Under the direction of the Business Manager, the Surgical Aide stocks and counts supplies and equipment in operating room, Surgical Services, and Perfusion areas to maintain appropriate levels. The role keeps work areas safe, clean, and orderly to support safe operations and product integrity. Additional duties include transporting stable inpatients and assisting with the transport of critical patients from the ICU and ER to the operating room or pre-op area. The position is based at St. Mary’s Medical Center, a state-of-the-art facility overlooking Lake Superior. No educational requirements, certifications, or licensure are required.

Responsibilities

- Maintain department and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition to support safe operations and product integrity.
- Transport stable patients from inpatient rooms.
- Assist with transporting critical patients from the ICU and ER to the operating room or pre-op area.
