About The Position

The IT Clinical Systems Supervisor is the System Owner for assigned clinical information systems (e.g., LIS/LIMS/IMS), accountable for system reliability, regulatory readiness, stakeholder satisfaction, and delivery of approved changes. The role leads a team responsible for administration, implementation, optimization, design, maintenance, support, and change management of their assigned clinical information system(s). Collaborates with others in Lab and Clinical IT to ensure work aligns with the needs and priorities of the organization. Leads cross functional teams to achieve application and process integration supporting all business units in laboratory information system matters. The Supervisor operates with guidance and oversight from senior leadership and escalates decisions that exceed defined authority, risk tolerance, or cross‑domain impact. This role is intended as a developing people leader, building readiness for independent managerial accountability. Requirements

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.
  • PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
  • Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for system service health (availability, stability, performance) and operational readiness of assigned systems
  • Accountable for upgrade outcomes and readiness for assigned systems
  • Accountable for daily workflow and operational activities of the assigned teams and systems
  • Direct team by prioritizing efforts and engaging appropriate resources to deliver timely results
  • Serve as an liaison with other IT teams, ARUP leadership, laboratory management, and vendors
  • Ensure system changes conform to architectural standards; escalates cross‑domain designs or exceptions
  • Triage, troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve highly complex issues
  • Ensure the team executes work in compliance with approved validation processes, documentation standards, and timelines
  • Partner with the Validation team for planning, evidence readiness, and inspection response
  • Provide operational input to budget forecasts and manage execution within approved financial authority
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and quality measures for assigned teams/systems
  • Responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, counseling, and engagement of direct reports including terminating employment when needed
  • Conduct annual reviews for direct reports and promote employee engagement
  • Track, monitor, approve and enforce time and attendance policies
  • Other duties as assigned.
