On a part-time basis, the Supplemental Instructor works alongside faculty to support student success by reviewing course content, teaching study skills, and referring students to college resources. The instructor collaborates with faculty to identify content-reinforcement needs, provides curriculum feedback, and reports on student progress. The position supplements content in high-risk courses to improve student success and completion. The instructor develops and delivers contextualized supplemental instruction sessions, creates learning materials and assessments, coaches students on academic achievement and study strategies, and works with faculty and Tutoring Center staff to assess progress and report on the impact of supplemental instruction. The role uses CANVAS and other software platforms as needed. Work is assigned by the Director of Tutoring in collaboration with the lead instructor, and completed work and programming are reviewed for procedural compliance and appropriateness. The work is typically performed in an office or classroom setting, while sitting at a desk or table or intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and distinguishes between shades of color. The role requires the ability to work at multiple sites, including face-to-face and online, and on weekends and evenings.
