About The Position

The 2nd Shift Supervisor oversees second-shift operations within a steel distribution and service center, maintaining a safe, productive, and efficient work environment. The role provides leadership and direction to production, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and material handling employees while maintaining quality standards, meeting customer requirements, and achieving operational goals.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
3–5 years of experience in a steel service center, manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
Conduct routine safety observations, inspections, and shift meetings.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company policies.
Supervise daily production, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and processing activities during the second shift.
Coordinate workflow so customer orders are processed accurately and shipped on time.
Monitor productivity, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency.
Prioritize workloads and adjust staffing to meet business demands.
Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to hourly employees.
Conduct employee training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
Lead daily shift meetings and communicate production goals and expectations.
