About The Position

Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide. We are seeking a Supervisor, Quality Assurance to maintain and improve the quality level of the products produced by Allied Mineral Products, Inc. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the quality assurance department which includes reviewing and approving all daily paperwork. The Supervisor, Quality Assurance will complete timecards weekly for hourly paid employees which report to this position and order supplies for the Quality Department including testing equipment and chemicals.

Requirements

  • Previous Quality Assurance experience required.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong math capabilities required (statistics, algebra, geometry)
  • Must be proficient with MS Office applications
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal capabilities.
  • Must have good organizational and prioritization skills, along with attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate a solid approach to problem solving.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience in the industry preferred.
  • SAP experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct the day-to-day supervision of the quality assurance department.
  • Support the manufacturing department by ensuring that production is properly sequenced and batches are formulated and checked in a timely manner.
  • Supervise the performance of routine quality assurance functions to ensure that all raw materials received meets specifications, all finished products meet specifications, and product quality data is recorded in permanent records and samples of finished products are retained.
  • Ensure QA Technicians are keeping their working areas and offices neat, clean, and organized.
  • Supervise the monitoring of production control functions to ensure that standard operating procedures are being followed.
  • Monitor production to ensure inspection of water meter settings, Phos acid systems, observation of batching procedures, and inspection of equipment after cleaning.
  • Be responsible for checking all returned products and deciding disposition: rework, reblend, return to inventory, or disposal.
  • Assist in the coordination of activities that involve production, QA and R&D.
  • Work with the Purchasing Department in resolving raw material quality problems and setting of raw material specifications with suppliers.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all current mixes and all finished product specifications.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a complete SPC program.
  • Complete the weekly payroll for all hourly employees reporting to QA.
  • Order all supplies needed to run the Quality Department.
  • Make certain there is adequate stock of all needed equipment, sieves, chemicals, etc., to run all systems.
  • Work with the hourly employees in the QA department and complete yearly evaluations as well as positive and negative action reports when needed.
  • Promote quality to all departments and employees.
