About The Position

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced pipeline integrity or operations Engineering Leader who enjoys problem solving and project management to join our team. The team has two essential functions: Integrity project sponsorship, which primarily focuses on shepherding non-routine integrity-driven projects from initial identification and justification through to in-service and project close-out. The second is to represent the Integrity department in cross-functional teams and committees focused on strategic asset management initiatives, ensuring Integrity plans are communicated and integrated for optimal asset operation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Registered member with APEGA as P. Eng. in the Province of Alberta.
  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience (project management, integrity, and/or other pipeline industry related experience is an asset); comparable technical or operational experience will be considered.
  • Progressive leadership development and experience: coaching, mentoring, collaboration and conflict resolution.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated previous experience as a project manager or project engineer (e.g., developing schedules, track actions, and drive projects to completion).
  • Effective interpersonal skills: specifically in the areas of facilitation, collaboration, and negotiation to influence and drive-forward results and decisions.
  • Valid passport is required.
  • Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Develop initial project scopes for integrity projects and obtain funding approvals, including preparing and presenting business case(s). This requires interfacing with Integrity groups to prepare technical supporting documentation, and cross functional engagement with other functions in GTM to facilitate project recommendations.
  • Actively sponsor integrity-related projects from scope initiation, execution, through to final in-service. This includes the compilation and analyses of project documentation, completion of related Engineering Assessments (as required), and participation in gating review processes, commissioning, acceptance, and long-term operational review activities.
  • Sponsorship may be for individual projects or a portfolio of projects (often in excess of $100MM); projects are typically considered non-routine and may include pipeline replacement, large pipeline recoating projects, hydrotests, remediation of geological and hydrological hazards, pipeline modifications such as send/receive trap installations, and remediating cased crossings and cathodic protection issues. Projects may also address facility and storage assets.
  • Ensuring Integrity plans are communicated and integrated for optimal asset operation.
  • Be the Integrity Program lead for one or multiple assets and asset types. This includes understanding the integrity management and threat overview on the respective asset(s) and making balanced business recommendations to senior leadership considering both the cost and revenue impacts to Enbridge.
