About The Position

Help Lakeshore build the best team to serve the residents of Lakeshore! This is a temporary position for up to 5 years. The Municipality uses an online questionnaire to screen applications. The Supervisor of Environmental Assessment and Studies shall provide coordination and support of Environmental Assessments and other studies, including Excess Soil Management, Feasibility Studies, Shoreline Management, etc. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering and Infrastructure, under the overall direction of the Executive Director, Infrastructure Services.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Eligible for licensing as a Professional Engineer in Ontario within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in the field of civil or environmental engineering with an emphasis on Environmental Assessments and municipal engineering
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic and able to demonstrate the ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in preparing technical reports and memos
  • Experience establishing professional relationships and networking
  • Hold and maintain a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license
  • Obtain a clear police clearance for the vulnerable sector

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of municipal bylaws, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario, and WHMIS would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all phases of Environmental Assessment projects in accordance with Ontario and Federal Environmental Assessment Acts
  • Provide direction to consultants, liaison with general public, government agencies, utilities and other levels of government involved in the Environmental Assessment process
  • Coordinate activities of external consultants engaged in various consulting assignments and studies
  • Present information and participate in public engagement on Environmental Assessments, development and/or other related engineering projects
  • Present information and participate in Indigenous engagement on Environmental Assessments, development and/or other related engineering projects
  • Coordinate environmental permit applications related to infrastructure projects
  • Prepare and submit monitoring reports for various funding programs, benchmarking initiatives and other reporting requirements
  • Prepare and coordinate various Request for Proposals for studies, investigations and consultant assignments. Assist with the development of tender specifications, and project monitoring
  • Participate in the preparation of various master plans, business plans, community improvement plans, technical studies, Environmental Study Reports, etc.
  • Provide research, analysis, and recommendations on a wide variety of municipal-related topics, environmental issues and other relevant emerging issues or trends
  • Participate in public consultations performed by other entities as a Municipality of Lakeshore representative
  • Coordination of CWATS study, Consultant Roster, contracts, Environmental Assessments, and environmental permitting of municipal projects
  • Prepare and submit funding applications for Provincial and Federal or other programs
  • Prepare and present any reports to council related to Environmental Assessments, plans and studies as needed
  • Provide information for the preparation of the budget related to Environmental Assessments, studies, etc.
  • Prepare written reports, correspondence, presentations, manuals, and other deliverables
  • Coordinate development/documentation of sustainability programs and environmental stewardship initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
