About The Position
The Supervisor represents Corning Hospital and Nursing Administration in their absence. This role involves assuming a collaborative role in staffing and scheduling, supporting a professional practice environment, and fostering empowered decision-making among nursing staff. The Supervisor also responds to emergencies, addresses employee health incidents, and demonstrates knowledge of NYSDOH codes. Key functions include communicating with patients, families, and healthcare providers, promoting service recovery, maintaining confidentiality, and serving as a professional liaison. Additionally, the role involves mentoring nursing staff, participating in continuing education, and engaging in nursing committees and performance improvement activities.
Requirements
- License to practice in the State of New York
- 5 years of clinical experience in acute care setting
- 1 year in Critical Care
- Demonstrated abilities in leadership and clinical roles

Responsibilities
- Assumes a collaborative role in staffing and scheduling of personnel, considering appropriate utilization of personnel, scope of practice, competencies, patient needs and complexity of care.
- Supports a professional practice environment which fosters excellence in nursing practice.
- Fosters professional nurse empowered decision‐making, accountability and autonomy in nursing practice.
- Responds and assumes appropriate role in emergency codes/crisis intervention.
- Addresses Employee Health incidents appropriately.
- Demonstrates knowledge of NYSDOH Codes and reporting requirements.
- Communicates with patient, family and healthcare providers regarding patient care, demonstrating strong communication skills.
- Effectively promotes service‐recovery.
- Maintains confidentiality while serving as a professional liaison with the community.
- Functions as a mentor for development of nursing staff.
- Participates in professional continuing education programs.
- Participates in nursing committees, performance improvement activities and initiatives.
