Requirements

  • B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or relevant discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education (High School diploma) and experience.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment).
  • 8+ years of commercial construction field experience, including direct supervisory experience.
  • Proficient with reading plans and specs.
  • Ability to build and manage high performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead day-to-day field construction activities on assigned jobsites.
  • Ensure overall safety at a jobsite, including the implementation of safety plans and procedures.
  • Review record documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schedules to determine project scope, materials, manpower, and equipment needs.
  • Plan the physical layout of the jobsite with the project manager, initiating startup activities such as site security and utility hookups.
  • Designate areas for cranes, hoists, material storage, and parking.
  • Direct field engineers in jobsite survey and layout, ensuring dimensional accuracy before foundation work.
  • Plan daily and weekly activities for each craft, providing detailed technical instructions and schedule forecasts.
  • Establish procedures for ordering self-performed materials, supplies, and tools with the project manager.
  • Inspect all field construction work, ensuring high-quality workmanship and promptly addressing deficiencies.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance in resolving construction problems, investigating alternative methods and materials.
  • Assist the project manager in evaluating schedule and cost impacts.
  • Assist the project manager in developing manpower projection charts and monitoring labor costs and productivity.
  • Assist the project manager in developing equipment projection charts and monitoring equipment use, maintenance, and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes related to construction activities and company policies.
  • Manage scheduling of all governmental inspections necessary for obtaining a certificate of occupancy.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the health and safety of employees, including first aid, emergency treatment, and OSHA compliance.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with owners, architects, consulting firms, and other stakeholders.
  • Foster and promote the training and development of subordinates through on-the-job and company-sponsored programs.
  • Assume a leadership role in the career planning and development of project staff.
  • Perform tasks associated with project completion, including close-out punch lists, demobilization, and as-built documents.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate daily reports of all field construction activities.
  • Administer the company's Safety & Health Manual.
