Summer Intern - Market Risk

The OCC•Chicago, IL
•Hybrid

About The Position

The Market Risk intern supports OCC’s daily market risk monitoring and helps build Python reports and tools while learning how a clearinghouse manages risk. The intern works on a defined project and presents findings to the team at the end of the summer. The OCC Summer Internship Program runs for 12 weeks, either May through August or June through September. Interns may work up to 40 hours per week in a hybrid work environment; overtime is not permitted. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students actively enrolled at a college or university. The Market Risk team monitors the risk clearing members bring to OCC’s clearing and settlement services. The intern will learn how risk is measured for products OCC clears, including equities, futures, options, and government securities, and will support monitoring of clearing member positions and collateral using OCC risk methodologies such as stress testing. OCC operates under a Hybrid Work Program that generally requires employees to work from an OCC office at least three days per week. Tuesday and Wednesday are anchor days when employees are expected to be in the office. Employees meeting performance expectations are generally permitted to work remotely two other days per week, subject to applicable location requirements and approved exceptions. Interns and seasonal interns are eligible only for paid sick leave accrued based on hours worked; other benefits, including the technology stipend, do not apply to them.
