2028 Summer Financial Analyst – Capital Solutions (Class of 2029) - Chicago Private Debt Advisory
About The Position
Houlihan Lokey’s U.S. Private Capital Markets & Advisory team provides capital-raising services across industries and capital needs, working with clients such as private equity-backed, public, family-owned, and management-owned businesses. The team arranges structure-agnostic solutions across the capital structure, including unitranche and second lien term loans, asset-backed facilities, junior debt, and minority equity instruments. Summer Financial Analysts work alongside full-time professionals on live transactions, including acquisition financing for leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalizations, refinancings, growth capital, and distressed and special situations. Private Capital Markets transaction processes include creating marketing materials such as CIMs and three-statement financial models, spearheading counterparty diligence, coordinating management meetings, and structuring and negotiating financing through closing. The internship provides experience in cash flow and three-statement modeling, running investor outreach processes, and understanding capital structures and private credit and private equity markets.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree with a graduation date between December 2028 and June 2029.
- Possess basic knowledge of and a keen interest in corporate finance.
- Strong qualitative analysis skills and ability to own a workstream end-to-end.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and leadership skills.

- A fundamental understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications.
- Strong analytical and computer skills, including Excel.
- Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff.
