About The Position

The North Rutherford YMCA is hiring Summer Day Camp Counselors for a seasonal position. This role involves leading campers through fun and engaging activities, ensuring their safety, happiness, and growth. Responsibilities include activities like swimming and games, with a focus on creating memorable experiences. The position requires consistent availability Monday-Friday, with shifts scheduled within the operating hours of the day camp centers.

Requirements

• Minimum Age: 18
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience or coursework in childcare or recreation is a plus.
• New Hire Orientation (before your first shift)
• CPR Pro, First Aid, and AED (within 30 days of hire)
• Enthusiasm, energy, and a love for working with kids.
• Ability to spend up to nine hours outdoors, leading activities and ensuring campers’ well-being.
• Strong communication skills and a knack for keeping things fun and safe.
• Consistent availability Monday–Friday for the full season (mid-May through early August).
• Ability to commit to shifts scheduled within the window of 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., working no more than 8.5 hours per day, up to five days per week.
