Camp Counselor: Summer 2026! Day Camp
About The Position
The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is seeking energetic, positive, and enthusiastic Camp Counselors to create an unforgettable summer camp experience for children. This seasonal role involves supervising and engaging groups of campers, leading and participating in various activities such as morning rotations, group time, hobby activities, lunch supervision, theme days, and special events. Counselors are responsible for fostering a safe, fun, and inclusive environment, building positive relationships with campers and parents, adhering to YMCA safety standards and child protection policies, and collaborating with Camp Directors, Assistant Directors, and Activity Leaders. Daily tasks include greeting campers and ensuring smooth transitions. Specialty Counselors (Dance/STEM Academy, E-Sport, Sport) may have additional or different duties. The camp runs from June 22nd to August 14th, with an optional extension to August 21st. Required orientations are held on evenings and weekends between June 1st and June 14th. Shifts are available from 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with both full and partial program positions offered.
Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Entering first year of college, or equivalent
- Prior experience working with children
- First Aid, CPR and AED certified or willing to be
- For Dance/STEM Academy Counselors: Dance Experience required
- For E-Sport Counselors: Extensive gaming/competitive gaming experience and knowledge
- For Sport Counselors: Athletic background
Nice To Haves
- For Dance/STEM Academy Counselors: STEM experience a plus
- For Dance/STEM Academy Counselors: Coaching experience
- For E-Sport Counselors: Prior coaching experience
- For Sport Counselors: Coaching experience
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage a group of campers throughout the day

- Build positive relationships with campers and parents
- Follow YMCA safety standards and child protection policies

- Greet campers daily and ensure smooth transitions throughout the day
