About The Position

The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is seeking energetic, positive, and passionate Camp Counselors for Summer 2026 to create an unforgettable camp experience for children in the community. This role is ideal for individuals who love staying active, building relationships, and serving as a role model. Counselors will supervise and engage groups of campers, lead various activities in both indoor and outdoor settings, and foster a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. Key responsibilities include building positive relationships with campers and parents, adhering to YMCA safety standards and child protection policies, and collaborating with Camp Directors, Assistant Directors, and Activity Leaders. Counselors will also greet campers daily and ensure smooth transitions throughout the day. Specialty Counselor positions, such as Dance/STEM Academy, E-Sport, and Sport Counselors, are available and may involve additional or different duties.

Requirements

• 18 years or older
• Entering first year of college, or equivalent
• Prior experience working with children
• Dance Experience required (for Dance/STEM Academy Counselors)
• Extensive gaming/competitive gaming experience and knowledge (for E-Sport Counselors)
• Athletic background (for Sport Counselors)
• First Aid, CPR and AED certified or willing to be

Nice To Haves

• STEM experience a plus (for Dance/STEM Academy Counselors)
• Coaching experience (for Dance/STEM Academy, E-Sport, and Sport Counselors)

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage a group of campers throughout the day
• Lead and participate in activities including: Morning rotations, Group time, Hobby activities, Lunch supervision, Theme days and special events
• Create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for every child
• Build positive relationships with campers and parents
• Follow YMCA safety standards and child protection policies
• Collaborate with Camp Directors, Assistant Directors, and Activity Leaders
• Greet campers daily and ensure smooth transitions throughout the day
• Specialty Counselors may have additional and/or different job duties
