Substitute Teacher- Flexible, As- Needed Part-Time
About The Position
Knoxville Montessori School is seeking dependable, caring substitute teachers to support its classrooms throughout the school year. The school is an independent, nonprofit Montessori school serving children ages 1.5–18. Montessori experience is not required; applicants who enjoy working with children, are eager to learn, and want to join a supportive school community are welcome. This is a flexible, part-time, as-needed position. School-day shifts generally fall between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM, with occasional opportunities to provide aftercare coverage until 5:30 PM. Substitutes may support different age groups and classrooms. Hourly pay is based on experience.
Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Dependable and punctual, and comfortable adapting to different classroom environments.
- Willingness to learn and follow school procedures and Montessori classroom practices.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children is preferred but not required.
- Experience in childcare, camps, tutoring, coaching, education, or other child-focused settings is welcome.
- Montessori experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for students.
- Supervise children and support their daily routines and activities.
- Follow classroom plans and guidance provided by the lead teacher.
- Assist students with their work, transitions, and everyday needs.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to keep the school day running smoothly.
