About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for K-12 schools across the Memphis area for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers serve as positive role models, support students’ learning, and help students see new possibilities. Assignments may include daily and long-term teaching positions, as well as other school support duties such as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Teachers can choose their schedule and work up to five days per week in assignments that interest them. The organization offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and free professional development. The role may provide a pathway to permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools. Employment is paid via W-2, with weekly paychecks. Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• An associate degree or higher.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed for teaching and other school support duties.
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
