About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools across the Dallas, Texas area for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week in teaching assignments they are most excited about. They may also be asked to help where needed with lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, or test proctoring. The role pays up to $142 per day, depending on education and assignment type, with weekly pay through W-2 employment. Candidates may receive an offer within one week of applying. Kokua provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the work as an opportunity to serve as a positive role model and make a difference in students’ lives. The position can also provide a path to permanent roles at high-performing K-12 schools.

Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to step in where needed, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.
Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Include relevant experience working with students on the resume.

Responsibilities

Teach and supervise students in K-12 school assignments.
