About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers for the 2025-26 school year in the Bronx and surrounding NYC areas. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community, spark a love for learning in students, and help address the teacher shortage crisis. Substitute teachers will have a flexible schedule, the ability to add representation in the classroom, and the autonomy to choose assignments and locations. Kokua is dedicated to connecting students with classroom role models who can empower them to be their best.

Requirements

• Completed Bachelor's Degree (per NYC requirement)
• 1+ year(s) experience working with K-12 students
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students
• Ability to pass a background check
• Availability within a 7:30am-4:30pm window
• Preference given to candidates who can work at least 3 days/week
• Preference is given to candidates willing to commute to 2+ boroughs
