About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers for the 2025-26 school year in Queens and surrounding NYC areas. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community, help address the teacher shortage, and provide students with positive role models. The position offers flexibility, autonomy in choosing assignments and locations, and the chance to add representation to the classroom through unique experiences. Requirements

Completed Bachelor’s Degree (per NYC requirement)
1+ year(s) experience working with K-12 students
Confidence to manage a classroom of students
Ability to pass a background check
Availability within a 7:30am-4:30pm window

Nice To Haves

Candidates who can work at least 3 days/week
Candidates willing to commute to 2+ boroughs
Bilingual, Spanish speaking teachers
