About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers for the Bronx and surrounding NYC area for the 2025-26 school year. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community by sparking a love for learning in students and helping to address the teacher shortage crisis. Substitute teachers will have a flexible schedule, autonomy in choosing assignments and locations, and the chance to add representation to the classroom. Kokua, meaning 'to come together to fulfill a need' in Hawaiian, aims to connect students with classroom role models who empower them to be their best.

Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s Degree (per NYC requirement)
• 1+ year(s) experience working with K-12 students
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students
• Ability to pass a background check
• Availability within a 7:30am-4:30pm window

Nice To Haves

• Preference given to candidates who can work at least 3 days/week
• Preference is given to candidates willing to commute to 2+ boroughs
