Part-time Substitute Teacher - Rio Grande City, TX
About The Position
Kokua Education is accepting applications for part-time substitute teachers in Rio Grande City and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, provide classroom coverage, and serve as positive role models who help students engage with learning. The role offers a flexible schedule: teachers can choose assignments and work up to five days per week. Duties may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Kokua provides daily support and describes the position as a potential path to permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools. Pay is up to $145 per day, paid weekly. The posting lists rates of up to $117 per day for substitutes with a high school diploma or GED, 48 or more college credits, or an associate degree, and up to $145 per day for substitutes with a bachelor’s, master’s, or professional degree. Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
- At least 48 college credit hours.
- Confidence managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to perform additional duties as needed, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring.
- Pass state and federal background checks.
