Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year to work in K–12 schools across the Indianapolis area. Substitute teachers provide classroom coverage and serve as positive role models who encourage students’ love of learning. Assignments may include daily or long-term teaching roles, with opportunities to choose assignments and work up to five days per week. The role may also involve lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Compensation is $125 per day for daily assignments and $135 per day for long-term assignments, with weekly paychecks through W-2 employment. Kokua says it can make an offer within one week of applying, provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and offers a path to permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools. Applicants who do not yet have an Indiana substitute permit may receive help with the steps to obtain one. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
